- 2 slices multigrain bread
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp blueberry jam
Cheese and Vegetables
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar & mozzarella (50g)
- 1/2 green jalapeno (thinly sliced)
Butter
- 2 tbsp salted butter (or margarine)
Instructions
- Cook the Bacon: Fry the bacon strips over medium-high heat until crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess fat.
- Prepare the Bread: Spread mayonnaise evenly on each slice of multigrain bread, then top each slice with blueberry jam for a sweet and savory contrast.
- Assemble the Sandwich: On one bread slice, sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly. Layer the cooked bacon strips and thinly sliced jalapeño on top, then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the fillings.
- Combine the Slices: Place the other slice of bread on top with the jam side facing down, gently pressing the sandwich together to hold all ingredients in place.
- Preheat the Pan: Heat a frying pan over medium heat to get it ready for grilling the sandwich.
- Butter and Grill: Butter the top side of the sandwich and place it butter side down onto the hot pan. Immediately butter the now-top side as well.
- Toast the First Side: Fry the sandwich for a couple of minutes until the bread starts to turn golden brown and toasty. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.
- Toast the Other Side: Press the sandwich down gently and fry for a couple of minutes. Continue flipping every 30 seconds while pressing down until both sides are evenly golden brown and the cheese inside is fully melted.
Notes
- If you prefer less heat, omit or reduce the jalapeño slices.
- Using a blend of cheddar and mozzarella helps achieve a nice balance of sharpness and creaminess in the cheese melt.
- Maple smoked bacon adds a subtle sweetness and smoky flavor that complements the blueberry jam beautifully.
