Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 5 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
- 10 ounces mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons butter
Toppings
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup M&M candies
- 1/2 cup white chocolate melting wafers
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Spray a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray to ensure the bars won’t stick and are easy to remove once set.
- Melt marshmallows and butter: In a large bowl, combine the mini marshmallows and butter. Microwave the mixture for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. If there are still unmelted marshmallows, microwave for an additional 1 minute, stirring to achieve a smooth, melted consistency.
- Mix cereal with marshmallow mixture: Once the marshmallows are melted and creamy, add the Honey Nut Cheerios to the bowl and stir well to coat all the cereal evenly with the marshmallow mixture.
- Press the mixture into the pan: Pour the coated cereal into the prepared baking dish. Using buttered hands or a piece of greased parchment paper, press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan to form the bars.
- Add toppings: Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips and M&M candies over the warm cereal bars, allowing them to stick slightly as the bars are still warm.
- Melt white chocolate wafers: In a small bowl, melt the white chocolate melting wafers by microwaving in 20-second bursts. Stir well after each interval until completely smooth and melted.
- Drizzle white chocolate: Use a spoon to drizzle the melted white chocolate over the top of the bars, adding a decorative and flavorful finish.
- Cool and serve: Allow the bars to cool for 1 hour until firm. Once set, cut into squares and serve as a delightful snack or dessert.
Notes
- For easier release, you can line the pan with parchment paper before spraying.
- You can substitute regular marshmallows if mini are unavailable.
- Pressing the bars firmly will help them hold together better once cooled.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
- Feel free to swap M&M candies for other small colorful candies or nuts.
