For the Rice Krispie Treats
- 10 cups Rice Krispies cereal, divided
- 1/2 cup butter, divided
- 8 cups mini marshmallows, divided

- 3–4 drops green food coloring

- 1 cup crushed candy canes (peppermint flavored)
Instructions
- Prepare pans and divide cereal: Lightly grease two 13×18-inch baking sheets and set aside. Divide 10 cups of Rice Krispies cereal into two large mixing bowls, placing 5 cups in each bowl.
- Melt butter and marshmallows with red color: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1/4 cup butter. Add 4 cups mini marshmallows, stirring constantly until melted and smooth. Stir in 3-4 drops of red food coloring evenly.
- Combine red marshmallow mixture with cereal: Pour the red marshmallow mixture into one bowl of cereal. Stir with a rubber spatula until all cereal is coated. Transfer the mixture to one prepared pan and press evenly using wax or parchment paper. Set aside.
- Melt butter and marshmallows with green color: Repeat the melting process with the remaining 1/4 cup butter and 4 cups mini marshmallows. Add 3-4 drops green food coloring and mix until evenly colored.
- Combine green marshmallow mixture with remaining cereal: Stir the green marshmallow mixture into the second bowl of cereal. Press this mixture evenly into the second prepared pan.
- Spread marshmallow cream and crushed candy canes: Evenly spread 7 ounces of marshmallow cream over the first pan of Rice Krispies treats. Sprinkle 1 cup crushed candy canes on top of the marshmallow spread.
- Assemble the layers: Carefully place the second pan of Rice Krispies treats on top of the peppermint candy cane layer. Use a lightly greased rolling pin to gently press the layers together.
- Roll the layered treat: Starting from one long side, tightly roll the layered Rice Krispies treats like a cinnamon roll. Press gently to help the layers adhere.
- Slice and serve: Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into pieces of your preferred thickness. Serve and enjoy your festive Christmas treat!
