Description

Easy Baked Pears is a simple, wholesome dessert that highlights the natural sweetness of pears enhanced with warm cinnamon and maple syrup. This healthy treat is quick to prepare and perfect for serving warm with optional maple almond granola and plain Greek yogurt for added texture and creaminess.

Ingredients

Scale

Pears

  • 4 large pears (or 6 medium pears)

Seasoning

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Optional Toppings

  • Maple almond granola
  • Plain Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a large baking pan by lightly spraying it with non-stick spray, or alternatively, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Pears: Cut the pears in half vertically. Using a cookie scoop, melon baller, or spoon, carefully core out the seeds and the seed cavity from each pear half. Arrange the pears cut-side up on the prepared baking pan or sheet. Sprinkle the pears evenly with ground cinnamon, adjusting the amount to your taste preference.
  3. Mix Syrup: In a small bowl, whisk together the pure maple syrup and pure vanilla extract until combined. Drizzle this mixture evenly over the pears, ensuring each piece is nicely coated.
  4. Bake: Place the baking pan in the oven and bake uncovered for about 25 minutes. Bake until the pears are soft and edges are lightly browned. If your pears are particularly firm, you may need to add extra baking time until tender.
  5. Serve and Store: Remove the baked pears from the oven and serve warm. Optionally, top with maple almond granola and a dollop of plain Greek yogurt for added crunch and creaminess. Cover and refrigerate any leftovers for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • You can choose any variety of pears that you prefer, such as Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou.
  • If you want a vegan option, substitute Greek yogurt with a plant-based yogurt alternative.
  • The baking time may vary depending on the ripeness and size of your pears; check for tenderness by piercing with a fork.
  • Maple almond granola adds extra texture and a nutty flavor, but it is optional.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep pears fresh for up to 5 days.
