Description
A simple and flavorful side dish featuring tender boiled edamame tossed in a rich garlic butter sauce with a hint of cayenne and black pepper, finished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added texture and nuttiness.
Ingredients
Scale
Edamame
- 12 oz. edamame (in pods)
- Water (for boiling)
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 3 dashes ground black pepper
- 1 pinch kosher salt
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Boil the Edamame: Bring a small pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the edamame pods and cook for 2-3 minutes until tender but still slightly firm. Drain the edamame and set aside.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: Melt the salted butter in a small saucepan over low heat or in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the minced garlic, cayenne pepper, and ground black pepper to the melted butter. Stir well to combine and infuse the butter with the garlic and spices.
- Toss Edamame in Garlic Butter: Place the drained edamame in a serving bowl and pour the garlic butter mixture over it. Toss thoroughly so each pod is evenly coated with the flavorful butter sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle a pinch of kosher salt and sesame seeds over the garlic butter edamame. Serve immediately while warm as a savory appetizer or side dish.
Notes
- You can use frozen edamame in pods or shelled, but this recipe works best with pods.
- Adjust cayenne pepper to taste for more or less heat.
- For an extra garlic punch, sauté the garlic lightly in butter before mixing with spices.
- Serve with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for added brightness, if desired.
- This dish pairs well with Asian-inspired meals or as a healthy snack.
