Mint Chocolate Swirl Bark Recipe

  • Author: Thomas
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: About 20 pieces 1x

Description

This Mint Chocolate Swirl Bark is a delightful treat combining creamy white chocolate, vibrant green candy melts, and rich semi-sweet chocolate, all infused with refreshing peppermint extract. The swirled effect creates an attractive pattern, making it perfect for festive occasions or everyday indulgence. Optionally, chopped Andes mints add an extra burst of minty flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Mixture

  • 7 ounces (199g) white chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1 ounce (1/4 cup) green candy melts
  • 1/4 teaspoon canola or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 8 ounces (226g) semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped

Optional Toppings

  • 1/3 cup chopped Andes mints

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to ensure easy removal of the bark once set. Set aside in a convenient workspace.
  2. Melt White Chocolate Mixture: Combine the white chocolate and green candy melts using a double boiler or microwave, stirring every 20 seconds in the microwave to prevent seizing. Once smooth and melted, mix in the canola or vegetable oil and peppermint extract thoroughly. Set this minty white chocolate mixture aside.
  3. Melt Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate using the same method. After fully melting, pour the chocolate evenly onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into a large rectangular shape.
  4. Swirl Chocolate Layers: Drizzle the white chocolate and green candy melt mixture on top of the semi-sweet chocolate in lines or patterns. Using a toothpick or knife, swirl the layers together gently to create a marbled effect. If desired, sprinkle chopped Andes mints evenly over the top for additional flavor and texture.
  5. Set the Bark: Leave the swirled chocolate to set at room temperature in a cool, dry place for about 45 minutes, or until firm. To speed up the process, you can refrigerate the bark. Once hardened, break the bark into pieces of your preferred size and serve.

Notes

  • To avoid chocolate seizing when melting in the microwave, stir every 20 seconds.
  • The canola or vegetable oil helps the white chocolate mixture achieve a smooth, shiny texture.
  • Ensure the setting environment is cool and dry to prevent chocolate from melting or blooming.
  • Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to make removal easy and clean.
  • Store the bark in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
