Description

This festive No Churn Peppermint Ice Cream Milkshake combines the creamy richness of homemade peppermint ice cream with the convenience of a quick and easy blender milkshake. Perfect for holiday celebrations or anytime you crave a minty, creamy treat without the fuss of an ice cream maker.

Ingredients

Scale

No Churn Peppermint Ice Cream

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream (1 pint)
  • 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon pure peppermint extract
  • ¾ cup candy cane pieces (ground up finely, plus additional to sprinkle on top)

Milkshake

  • 2 scoops No Churn Peppermint Ice Cream (about 1 cup)
  • ½ cup milk (whole or skim)
  • ½ tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • Sweetened whipped cream (for serving)
  • Candy cane pieces (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Make the No Churn Peppermint Ice Cream: In a large bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream. Using a hand or stand mixer, whip the cream slowly at first, then increase the speed until soft peaks form. In another bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk with the peppermint extract and finely ground candy cane pieces, stirring until smooth. Gently fold this mixture into the whipped cream using a rubber spatula until fully combined. Pour the mixture into a loaf pan, sprinkle additional candy cane pieces on top, and freeze overnight until firm.
  2. Prepare the Milkshake: Scoop about 2 generous scoops (1 cup) of the homemade peppermint ice cream into the base of a blender. Add the milk and vanilla extract. Blend until the mixture is creamy and smooth, ensuring the ice cream is fully incorporated with the milk and vanilla. Pour the milkshake into glasses.
  3. Garnish and Serve: Top each milkshake with sweetened whipped cream and sprinkle additional candy cane pieces for a festive finish. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For a stronger peppermint flavor, adjust the peppermint extract to taste but avoid adding too much as it can be overpowering.
  • Use either whole or skim milk depending on your preference for richness in the milkshake.
  • Finely grinding the candy cane pieces helps them incorporate well in the ice cream mixture and avoid large chunks.
  • Freeze the ice cream mixture for at least 6-8 hours or overnight for best texture.
  • If preferred, substitute candy cane pieces with crushed peppermint candies for different texture.
