Oreo Eyeball Truffles Recipe

  • Author: Thomas
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 24 truffles 1x

Description

These Oreo Eyeball Truffles are a fun and spooky treat perfect for Halloween or themed parties. Made from golden Oreo cookies crushed and mixed with cream cheese, then coated in colorful candy melts and decorated with candy eyes and sprinkles, these truffles are both delicious and visually striking. The recipe is simple, requiring no baking, and yields adorable bite-sized eyeball treats that will delight kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 19.1 ounces family-size package of golden Oreos
  • ¾ package (8-ounce) cream cheese, room temperature

For Decoration

  • 12 ounce bag of colored candy melts
  • ½ cup color-matching sprinkles
  • 24 large candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Place the golden Oreos into a food processor and crush them until they are finely crumbled.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: Add the room temperature cream cheese to the crushed Oreos and pulse in the food processor until well combined and a dough-like consistency is formed.
  3. Form Truffles: Using a 1 ½ tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop out portions of the Oreo mixture and roll each into a ball with your hands.
  4. Chill Truffles: Arrange the formed balls on a large cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate them for 15 to 30 minutes, or up to an hour, to allow them to firm up.
  5. Melt Candy Coating: When ready to decorate, pour the colored candy melts into a medium microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 45 seconds. Stir the melts well, then continue heating in 10 to 20 second increments, stirring between each, until fully smooth.
  6. Dip Truffles: Working in batches, dip each chilled truffle into the melted candy melts to coat it completely. Place the coated truffles on a clean sheet of parchment paper laid on a hard surface.
  7. Decorate: Press a large candy eye firmly onto the front of each coated truffle. Sprinkle the top with color-matching sprinkles to resemble hair or additional decoration.
  8. Set Coating: Allow all decorated truffles to set by refrigerating them for at least 30 minutes, until the candy coating has hardened.
  9. Serve: Once set, your Oreo Eyeball Truffles are ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature to ensure it blends smoothly with the Oreos.
  • You can customize the candy melt colors and sprinkles to match different themes or holidays.
  • Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, place Oreos in a sealed plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin thoroughly.
  • For easier dipping, keep the candy melts warm and smooth by reheating gently as needed.
