Ingredients
Scale
Salted Lassi Ingredients
- 2 cups plain whole-milk yogurt, preferably South Asian dahi
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds, plus more crushed cumin seeds for serving
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt (such as Diamond Crystal) or 1 1/4 teaspoons Himalayan pink salt
- 1 1/2 cups ice (6 ounces)
- Optional: water (1 tablespoon at a time for thinning consistency)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add the plain whole-milk yogurt, cumin seeds, kosher or Himalayan salt, and ice into a blender.
- Blend Mixture: Blend the ingredients starting at a low speed and gradually increasing until the mixture is smooth and creamy. For a thinner consistency, add water one tablespoon at a time while blending until you reach the desired texture.
- Serve: Pour the lassi into glasses and sprinkle with crushed cumin seeds if you like a more pronounced cumin flavor. Serve immediately for the freshest taste and best chilling effect.
Notes
- Use South Asian dahi or a similar thick yogurt for the authentic texture and tang.
- Adjust the salt to taste depending on your preference or salt type used.
- Crushing cumin seeds before adding them enhances their aroma and taste.
- For a lighter version, you can substitute whole-milk yogurt with low-fat yogurt but expect a slight change in creaminess.
