Description
This classic Italian Tiramisu recipe combines layers of coffee-soaked lady fingers with a rich mascarpone cream, whipped to fluffy perfection. Lightly dusted with cocoa powder, this no-bake dessert is elegant, creamy, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
Mascarpone Cream
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream (360 ml)
- 8 ounce container mascarpone cheese, room temperature (225 g)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (67 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
Soaking Liquid
- 1 1/2 cups cold espresso, prepared (360 ml)
- 3 tablespoons coffee flavored liqueur, optional (Kahlua or DaVinci brands) (45 ml)
Other Ingredients
- 1 package Lady Fingers (Savoiardi brand)
- Cocoa powder for dusting the top
Instructions
- Whip Cream and Combine with Mascarpone: Add the heavy whipping cream to a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed using an electric or stand mixer. Gradually add the sugar and vanilla extract while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Set aside.
- Prepare Coffee Soaking Mixture: In a shallow bowl, combine the cold espresso and coffee flavored liqueur if using. This mixture will be used to quickly dip the lady fingers.
- Layer Lady Fingers: Quickly dip each lady finger into the coffee mixture—do not soak them, just a quick dip on each side to absorb some liquid. Arrange a single layer of dipped lady fingers in the bottom of an 8×8 inch pan or similar sized dish.
- First Layer of Mascarpone Cream: Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the lady fingers layer, smoothing it out gently.
- Second Layer of Lady Fingers: Repeat the quick dip process for another batch of lady fingers and lay them in a single layer over the mascarpone cream.
- Top with Remaining Mascarpone Cream: Smooth the remaining mascarpone mixture evenly over the second layer of lady fingers.
- Dust with Cocoa Powder: Using a fine mesh strainer, generously dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder for a rich finish.
- Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 3 to 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly before serving.
Notes
- Use espresso for an authentic coffee flavor; strong brewed coffee can be substituted.
- If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur.
- Do not soak the lady fingers for too long to prevent them from becoming soggy.
- For best results, chill the tiramisu overnight to develop the flavors fully.
- Ensure mascarpone is at room temperature for smooth blending.
